Tricia The Baby Lady

Overnight Care for Babies

With over 40 years of experience taking care of newborns, I provide safe and effective childcare from the day you get home from the hospital until your baby is sleeping through the night. Trained in all aspects of infant care I assist new mothers with nursing techniques, pumping, bottle feeding, swaddling, infant soothing, sleep methods, reflux and colic. I bring the baby to the mother if she is breastfeeding during the night and do everything from cleaning bottles to bathing baby to help you get a good night's rest and be prepared for the morning. Take a look around my site to learn more about my background and what I can do for you. Please feel free to get in touch with any questions!

About Me

Itteria "Tricia" Farve

Growing up in the country in Mississippi, I was second oldest of nine brothers and sisters. I was always caring if not for my own siblings, for neighbors and their families. I moved to New Orleans in 1976 and began working as a volunteer at Touro Hospital. My first paid job was with Dependable Kid Care in New Orleans where I was employed for close to 20 years. Since then I have worked at Ochsner Hospital and Children's Hospital in New Orleans caring for newborns and infants in need of special care, helping prep them for surgeries or assisting in their growth and development in anticipation of their discharge from the NICU, and even have experience caring for babies whose time on Earth is expected to be only a few days, weeks or months.

After Hurricane Katrina, I moved to Houston and worked at Tomball Hospital before transitioning to work for Mom's Best Friend (MBF) where I cared for babies in particular multiples with special needs. I have worked for families in their home as a certified night nurse/night nanny since I was 20 years old and for decades have nurtured babies caring for them (and their parents) all night through.

I am CPR certified every two years and complete a criminal background check for my clients which I supply as requested.

I am up-to-date on all of my vaccinations including Tdap, MMR, and Flu Vaccination.

My Services

Dependable. Trustworthy. Experienced.

Count on me twelve hours a night, every day of the week, holidays included. I will travel wherever your family needs me, whether it's a drive around the block to grandmother's house, on a boat in New England or on a plane to Paris. I will travel wherever the family goes and would like me to be.

Newborn Baby

Overnight Newborn Care

As an infant care specialist (also known as a baby nurse or night nurse) whether it is your first night back home from the hospital or a few weeks or months into life with your new baby, I will be there to take care of your baby's every need. For breastfeeding mothers I will wake, change, take the baby to you to nurse, then burp and get them back to sleep so you can get as much rest as possible. I sit up with the baby in their room all night and soothe baby when needed as well as watch for any signs that the baby may need some assistance. I am CPR certified, a certified nursing assistant (CNA), and always continue my education in the best practices for baby care and safety. If time in the NICU is needed I will go to the hospital to train with your baby's medical team and take that same expert care back home if needed, for no extra charge. You and baby can rest assured.

Multiples

Twins are my specialty. I have twin younger brothers (19 years my junior!) and have been around multiples my entire professional and family life. If you already have children and are expecting two (or more!) you will find the way you cared for one at a time is different this time around, especially as you continue to meet the needs of older children. I am skilled doing double feedings, burping and bath time and will help you with techniques to care for your twins or triplets. If you come home from the hospital and have special medical needs for your child I am experienced working with babies who need special monitoring for breathing and feeding care and will work with you and your doctors to meet all of your baby's needs.

Baby Laundry Hanging on a Clothesline

Baby Housekeeping

The addition of a baby brings extra bundles of laundry and little messes from diapers to bottles to bibs. Leave the baby chores to me and when you wake find the laundry folded and pressed and the baby's nursery clean and ready for the new day. I clean and prep bottles for the next day, help with nursery set-up, inventory, and even take out the diapers!

Peaceful Newborn

Sleep Training

Can a baby really learn to sleep through the night? Absolutely. Once they reach a safe age and weight I work with parents to establish a routine and train the baby to sleep all through the night. It begins with a healthy daytime schedule of eating, playing and napping and I make sure a healthy positive environment is established from the beginning. I look at the whole picture and work with you to create a schedule that works for you and baby from how many ounces the baby should consume each feeding to how long each nap time should last during the day. If your child is 9-18 months old and still not sleeping, I also can help you and your older baby form better sleeping habits and practices through sleep training.

Mother and Child

As a first-time mom I read all the parenting books, but nothing prepared me for the feeling I had when I left the hospital with my newborn wondering how in the world I was going to take care of this precious child. Tricia to the rescue! The first night home my baby was hungry, my milk hadn't come in and I was at a total loss what to do. Tricia walked in the door and was a Godsend. She assured me everything was going to be okay and helped me soothe, calm my baby (and myself) and get some much needed rest.

Tricia or "TeTe" as my children call her has worked for our family from the day my first child came home from the hospital. I could count on her to be there for us on every holiday night whether it be Thanksgiving, Christmas or Mardi Gras, just as if it were a normal weeknight. She even traveled with our family on vacations to New York City, Colorado, North Carolina, Florida and other destinations! She gives me peace of mind that no matter where I need to be--even if I have to leave town alone on a work trip--my babies are safe and well cared for. She is simply the best around!

With a rambunctious two-year-old and twins on the way my wife and I knew we needed to call in an expert! Miss Tricia is amazing how she can hold, feed, and then burp two newborns at the same time and she helped us with techniques to follow her lead. It was so much different this time around with two and we are so thankful she was able to travel to Rhode Island and live-in with us for the summer to take care of our newborn twin boys...and get them sleeping through the night--twelve solid hours--that's more than our toddler!
